~  Top Three Best DUB Artists ~

Dub is the modern dance and urban music genre that deeply influenced some other styles of music, particularly hip-hop, dance, rock, and pop.

Dub came out of a little island of Jamaica in the 1960’s. That was an avant-garde - years ahead of the time.

You can hear very thick and phat (or that fat?) bass lines and the sound is tight and rich. Production-wise dub is famous for the  extensive use of "spin delay."

And Now's The Time (according to Parker) to round up the dub survey.

This survey went on during May and will be updated for awhile when new data will come in. Sites that participated are Last.fm, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and my personal musician's friends. Those sources are responsible for determination of the best dub artists.

Best artists of the dub genre:

  1. King Tubby is the top # one. Until further notice so far. OGOGO-King Tubby Crucial Dub

  2. Dub Syndicate takes the second position. OGOGO-Dub Syndicate Overdubbed

  3. Alpha & Omega is here. OGOGO-Alpha-Omega Sound System Dub

Check out Mad Professor Reel To Reel Reggae on Loopmasters if you're into dub production. Mad Professor compiled very unique material from his prehistoric tape collection.

In total the list includes more than 20 dub artists. Down the page you'll find the list of the artists who made the list.

I wanna say big THANK YOU to all of you who participated in this survey. I know how hard is it to just narrow it down to only three names. Decisions, decisions.

If you 'd like to have your impact on the future surveys, please contact me HERE.
