I bought this back in January to replace the original horns on my old GMC van. I wish I kept them

My first impression after hooking up the horn was that it was similar to the sound of a truck air-horn, but was not very loud at all once the hood was closed (aimed to go out under the left bumper).

Lower frequencies sound very weak if they don''t have any power behind them. As a musician, I know this... I wish I thought about that before I bought this. Yes, it has a similar TONE to air-horns... but without the power of the air-horn, the tone doesn''t travel at all. it basically sounded like I ran over a very large goose when I used it. The original horns on the van were higher in pitch, but got your attention much better.

About two months ago, the horn disappeared. Instead, it sounded like something I''d stick a banana and a few strawberries in with some milk. All I heard was a loud whirring sound that was almost as loud as the horn was. If I was happy with this thing to begin with, I might try to fix it. But I was actually happy it failed because it justifies me getting some real horns again.

My suggestion is to go to a junkyard and pull the horns off a 70''s-era Cadillac or another American made car. They rarely stop working and would wake up a neighborhood. Pull them off a couple different cars and combine them. The combination would be monstrous.

Don''t waste your money on this.

I should have read the reviews before purchasing this horn. I read them after ordering and before receiving the item, so I was really hoping I''d luck out and it wasn''t that bad of a product. Well, it turns out I didn''t luck out at all. I tested the horn out before fully installing it and it had a deep tone, but was not loud at all. Certainly not 2x as loud as the original vehicles horn. If anything, most vehicles have horns 2x as loud as this one. So that already had me wanting to send it back. Before I did though, I decided to try it with my car that has a brand new battery. It was unlikely that my Jeeps old battery was so weak that it didn''t power the horn properly, but I wanted to make sure. I got the same pitiful volume from the horn, and after about 4 or 5 tests, the horn malfunctioned and made an ugly high pitched noise. That was it for this horn, it would no longer make the deep tone anymore. So what was probably less than 10 horn blasts, it was already shot. One of the most disappointing products I''ve ever purchased. If you want the sound of a truck horn, you''re going to have to get a compressor, tank and the trumpets, because you will not be happy with this.

After about a week of use, I have decided to change my review from 3 stars to 1 star. I have left the original review below in quotes.

Even after giving the horn a direct power source from the battery using fuse and relay, the horn still has major issues. If it gets hot (as tends to happen in an engine compartment) the horn no longer "honks" as much as whistles. It sounds like a goose with laryngitis. I have even tried moving it to a place in the engine compartment as far away from the motor and radiator as possible with minimal help in the issue. I had to reconnect the secondary horn of my Toyota Highlander to make sure I had a working horn at all times, and the secondary horn is LOUDER than this "extreme volume" horn. I am extremely disappointed in this item.

"I am a rural route mail courier. I purchased this because numerous people have told me "I''m sorry, I didn''t hear you!" Even after honking my factory horn numerous times.

This is dangerous since I have had many people let dogs out as I am walking a package to their door.

I am a little disappointed with the volume of this horn, as it is no louder than my factory horn setup on my 2005 Toyota Highlander.

With that being said, the tone of it is definitely attention getting.

Outside it sounds like a semi blowing it''s horn (although not as loud). Inside a house it sounds like someone blaring on an oboe. Either way it garnishes attention.

I would give this 3 1/2 stars if possible, but I am only giving it 3 because it is not nearly as loud as I was expecting and what is continuously advertised. If replacing a quiet factory horn on a small car or motorcycle this may have seemed different, but for replacing a horn on a larger vehicle it is a bit disappointing."

I wanted a horn that would sound bold and complement my 1946 Ford 1 ton flatbed. After trying others.....this is it. So far, very happy with the lower, deep sound of this horn. A perfect fit for my truck. Hope it lasts.
I hooked it up with new 12 gauge wire, no relay, heavy duty push button momentary switch, 30 amp fuse inline. This horn does require polarized hook up. Since it is hard to see the positive/negative terminal markings, I put red paint on the + terminal. They should do this at the time of manufacture so there would be no mistake in wiring.
Ran the positive direct to the horn positive from battery. the switch provides the negative when button is pushed.
    Works great.
Unless the horn develops a problem in the future, I say it''s a 5 star horn!
UPDATE 8-5-2020 WELL, It developed a problem. It was really nice for 30 days. THEN WHAT "ROARED LIKE A LION"....BEGAN "SQUEAKING LIKE A MOUSE!" Everyone really liked the sound, was a perfect fit for my 1946 Ford 1 ton Flatbed. Sent this one back and trying another. The new one is good so far. With 12 gauge wire hook up, a 35 amp cole hersey marine grade push button switch, juice is not a problem. Rating reduced to 3 stars.

After reading the lower star reviews and complaints about low tones and it not being loud enough, I felt the need to weigh in. I had purchased 2 of these horns, one for my wife and one for myself.

I purchased the first one for my wife as a Christmas gift for her Murano, as the factory horn wasn''t very loud at all. I wired it up along with the factory horns (to retain the chirp when using the remote to lock and unlock the car). All 3 horns (the 2 factory and the Wolo) work together without issue. The only thing I had to do was swap the 15 amp horn fuse for a 20 and everything was set. After hearing it several times, I knew I needed it for my car.

I commute 5 days a week, 25 miles each way to and from work. I have had many near misses with people who don''t know how to drive, shouldn''t be driving, don''t check blind spots, and generally either signal as they are changing lanes or just drift without a signal. That was motivation enough to get a dashcam (that''s a review for another time) as well as a louder horn. I installed the same one in my Impala along with the factory GM horns and had the same results. Nice and loud, noticeable to the moron drivers. This horn has prevented more than it''s fair share of accidents. Swapped the 15 amp horn fuse for the 20 amp, and have had no issues.

I''m not sure if the other reviews got a defective product, aren''t as savvy as they thought they were in wiring it up, or just wanted to feel important showing off their highly tuned ears in describing the sound frequency produced. This horn is by no means loud like a train horn or a dedicated air horn similar to what actual big rigs are equipped with, but it is plenty loud when installed properly and produces a good, deep, authoritative sound. Would highly recommend this product. Would also recommend installing it with someone that knows what they are doing so as not to create a bunch of whiny low star reviews due to lack of proper installation.

I rolled the dice and ordered one of these, and when it got here and I tested it out before installing, I was less than impressed and pretty bummed, actually. It didn''t sound anything like the videos, and was very quiet. Figuring something was wrong with it, I requested a replacement from Amazon, and when it arrived it was slightly better, but still not at all what I was expecting. I played around with it a touch by loosening and evenly tightening all the screws around the diaphragm, and it sounded better, but still not great. It was good enough that I wanted to give it some time. Today I had to honk at a deer that was in the road, and it sounded terrible and barely made a sound. I''m done with these, sending this one back and getting a refund.

For those curious, I had it installed in a 2015 GMC 2500HD, at first it was hooked directly to the factory wiring. Thinking maybe there was enough voltage drop to affect the output, I then hooked it up using the included relay. Though it''s a touch louder, still not great and not nearly as loud as the stock horn.

It was connected and when I hit the horn button, I was actually ashamed that this horn sounded like a sick duck with cancerosous vocal cords. The volume level was less than a third of the "stock factory installed horn". So now I feel like I am stuck with a "piece of dead meat" I can''t even see it worth the time and effort of returning it. I feel the only worthwhile thing to do is for You Guys to reimburse Me, and "Dump It".

It’s very loud; as soon as I received it I tried it out on a car battery. I used some wimpy 16 gauge wire lying around (P.S. I did not read the instructions at this time) applied 12Volts to the 16 gauge wires and nothing happened except the wires got very Hot. Then I saw the relay that comes with the horn and tried it with 14gauge wire and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD this little thing is LOUD. So if you use the horn just to honk it once and a while go with 14 gauge but if you plan on standing on it then definitely go to a 12 gauge. This kit comes with very easy to fallow instructions and detailed schematics. Sorry if this long, hop this helps.
